July 16: Founding Mothers: The Women who Raised our Nation, by Cokie Roberts.
Roberts brings her strong story-telling instinct to bear on fascinating women from colonial times -- some of whom supported their more famous husbands or sons from behind the scenes. Roberts quotes interesting selections from original documents, modernizing for ease of reading.

August 20: For All the Tea in China: How England Stole the World's Favorite Drink and Changed History, by Sarah Rose. Rose tells an intriguing history of how tea plants were smuggled out of China by a Scotsman, so that England could break the Chinese monopoly on tea by starting tea plantations in India.

College Park Youth Choir

Students ages 5 and up work with high-energy director Chris Fominaya to develop strong vocal skills and perform for the public several times a year. $85 per semester per child. Come to our Open House on Sept. 7 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 4512 College Avenue, College Park, MD, 6:30 pm, to learn more about the Choir!

New Old Theater Presents
Commedia delle Zanni

$5 suggested donation at the door; contact us to reserve tickets. Parking permits are available.

Servants of No Mastery gives rise to hilarity! The actors improvise in the Commedia dell’Arte style, so at any moment, the characters might break into a dance or a song. The outrageous manners and humor of the servants, called “zanni” yields the modern term “zany comedy.” Anything can happen, and it will! Suitable for all ages!

College Park Youth Orchestra

Young string players will develop their ensemble and sight-reading skills under the direction of experienced conductor, Ken Whitley. Students rehearse at the Old Parish House, 4711 Knox Road, College Park, MD, twice a month, with three public concerts per year. $275 per child for the year. Students must be taking lessons; auditions for Intermediate Ensemble will be held on September 12.

Four actors, 25 characters, 70 costume changes, and plenty of swordfights--all the action in under an hour!

Spend time with your kids at our events—ideal for ages 3 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is suggested for these popular events as space is limited. MUSIC WITH MR. M!
It's time for another session of "Sing to the Heart" music classes with Mr. M at the Old Parish House! Registration fee will once again be $150 (siblings will receive a 10% discount). If you would like to reserve a spot, do so ASAP by sending in registration with check to CPAE. Class size is limited to ten kids, ages 0-5.
