Morbid Poetry by Christin Siems, directed by Ali Miller
Morbid Poetry is a sardonic, hilarious and heartbreaking glimpse into grownup life. A cutting edge exploration of suicidal flies and dead Easter Bunnies, it reminds audiences that it’s OK to want to murder your brother and hope that your ex-BFF gets eaten by a shark. Because sometimes life sucks. Sometimes it is also funny.

Falwell by Bob Bartlett, directed by Mary Resing

ABOUT ACTIVE CULTURES THEATRE
In its brief five years of existence, Active Cultures Theatre has cemented its niche as a theatre that is grounded in storylines with a strong local flavor. Active Cultures weaves together history, sports, science--often song and dance--and always creates work that evokes the unique culture of the DC area. Over the past four years, the theatre has commissioned and developed seven full-length plays, one of which, Photograph 51, won the $10,000 international Stages Award for best new play about Science and Technology and was produced Off-Broadway in 2010. In addition to commissioning and producing full-length works, Active Cultures produces two annual festivals: Diving Board, a festival of readings of new plays by local writers, and Sportaculture, a festival of short plays about local sports. Active Cultures was featured in INSIDE ARTS magazine as a leader in Cosmoregionalism and recognized by DC THEATRE SCENE as "one new theater that has a solid mission." Active Cultures, the vernacular theatre of Maryland, creates smart and juicy theatre for a diverse, multigenerational audience.
