The Youth Choir begins its spring semester on Tuesday, February 5. Under the high-energy direction of Chris Fominaya, the choir has grown to over 40 students ages 6-12. If your young singer is interested in joining us for this fun and educational experience, please drop in on Feb. 5. Students rehearse Tuesdays 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Old Parish House and perform several times each year at venues throughout College Park. Fee for the semester is $75 per child. The College Park Youth Choir will present their Winter Community Concert at Berwyn Presbyterian Church, 6301 Greenbelt Road, Berwyn Heights, MD, on Tuesday, January 22 at 7:30 pm. Christopher Fominaya, music teacher at University Park Elementary, leads the Youth Choir with enthusiasm and skill. Your hearts will soar with the music of this choir of 40+ voices, age 6 and up. This free concert is open to the public, and a reception will follow.

Riverdale Presbyterian will be hosting several wonderful groups of young musicians, including the College Park Youth Choir, Eleanor Roosevelt High School Clarinet Choir, Concordia Middle School, and Jazz Trio. As groups move on and off the staging area, the audience will be led in singing Christmas Carols. Following the concert, there will be a reception with soup and bread , cookies and drinks in Custis Hall, the downstairs fellowship hall. Performers and their families are encouraged to come and share some soup and mingle with other performers and audience members. The University Park town tree lighting will follow at 6:00 pm, a couple of blocks walk up Queens Chapel Rd. from the church.
The College Park Youth Choir is led by our talented and energetic director, Christopher Fominaya. You may also know Mr. Fominaya from his work with Greenbelt Creative Kids Camp, Prince George's Teen Theatre, and the University Park Elementary School music program. The Youth Choir invites all children aged 6 and up to learn about singing and performing. The choir performs several times a year around College Park, and rehearses on Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8: 30 pm from September through May. Tuition for the fall 2008 semester is $85; scholarships are available.
