In time for Earth Day, Arts Specialist Elizabeth Morisette will lead students at four College Park elementary schools to create wish eggs for the earth using recycled paper basketry. Then, the public is invited to get together with friends and family at the Old Parish House to create a woven nest for the eggs, to be displayed around College Park.

Save and bring your holiday wrappings to help make a full-size Asian Dragon to carry in local parades! Ribbons and shiny paper of all colors, especially metallic, will make our dragon shine. Be a part of this exciting group project at Arts Drop-in. Arts Drop-In is a multi-media arts discovery series for children aged 2 to 10. Our monthly Sunday afternoon program at the Old Parish House, 4711 Knox Road, 2 - 4 pm, is led by Aaron Springer; there is also a bi-weekly afterschool program led at Youth and Family Services (4912 Nantucket Avenue, near Hollywood Elementary) led by Ann Potter.
Arts Drop-In also helps out at many events around the year, and we welcome the help of volunteers. Please contact us if you have a good idea for a project or if you would like to help out for an hour or two.

Talismans for the New Year

The Hopi Indians greet the New Year by creating tiny talismans (paahos) out of sticks, twine and natural items, representing things they would like to see return in the New Year. Try making this fun workshop a part of your annual family New Year's traditions!
